THE GREAT WINTER MIGRATION

Ngorongoro - Serengeti - Ndutu (South Serengeti)

The Serengeti National Park is famous for being the scene of the largest migratory movement of wild animals in the world, it is the famous Great Migration of the Serengeti, which has as protagonists about one and a half million wildebeests and half a million zebras, in the constant search for pastures and water. It is a phenomenon that affects different areas of the vast Serengeti ecosystem in the various seasons that in the winter months is concentrated in the southern part of the Serengeti.

Left the northern Serengeti, the large herds of wildebeest and zebras have embarked on the long journey to the low grass plains of central-southern Serengeti where most of them were born. Between December and January they go even further south for the party season. The low grass plains and the acacia glades around the Ndutu and Masek Lakes are covered with herbivores as far as the eye can see, an indescribable view.
